Governance

All you need to know!

The Church is the body of Christ in the world - it is his collective people.
The Church is also an earthly institution, and as a result, we have rules and structures to follow.
This page will provide your with all that you need to know about how we govern ourselves.
The Church in Wales has a hierarchical structure with Jesus at its head.

The Church in Wales is broken into six areas known as Diocese - We live in the Diocese of Llandaff.

The Archbishop of Wales, Archbishop Andy John, is based in Bangor Diocese and oversees the six diocesan Bishops.
The Bishops, along with elected Vicars and elected members of the Laity (Not ordained members of the church) make up

The Governing Body. It is responsible for decisions that affect the Church’s Faith, Order and Worship.
The Governing Body is the supreme legislature of the Church in Wales, broadly speaking the Parliament of the Church in Wales.
It usually meets twice a year to receive reports and make decisions on matters brought before it.

Closer to home, the Bishop of Llandaff is Bishop Mary Stallard. She, along with her Archdeacons and her Leadership Team make all the diocesan strategic decisions. To find out more about the Diocesans leadership team, click here.

Locally, the Ministry Area Council are the Trustees of the Ministry Area's Charitable status and are trustees of any project associated with the Ministry Area, for example, Pontypridd Foodbank; and oversees the strategic plans for the M.A.
The localised church committees oversee the day to day running of each church.
