pontypridd foodbank
The Foodbank was a project set up by St Luke’s Church, Rhydyfelin, as a way to help spread good news of Jesus' love to the community through helping to provide for those in need in a very specific way.
Over the years, the need for Foodbank services increased and we outgrew our home at St Luke's Church. Thanks to the help of Rhondda Cynon Taff County Borough Council Foodbank found it's permanent home at the old Riverside Day Centre in Treforest.
Our aim is to provide clients in the Pontypridd area with three days of food to help them get through the crisis they find themselves in.
We also help by signposting people to the relevant agencies who will offer support and advice on how to change the situation that they find themselves in.
Our Foodbank is supported by a cross section of the community, from churches and chapels, schools, businesses and supermarkets.
Lots of individuals donate their time, food and money to us.
The Foodbank has a full time Manager and a Steering Group who oversee its day-to-day running, whiles the Pontypridd Ministry Area Council are its Trustees. We have also partnered with the Trussell Trust Foodbank Network, who collaborates with over of over 400 outlets across the UK, offering significant support to hundreds of thousands in crisis every year.
The Trussell Trust is also a powerful voice in the fight against poverty in our nation.
We are proud to be able to support and enable our foodbank; However, it is our prayer that poverty in the UK is permanently eradicated and that this project will become a distant memory.
